For which products can I take out a subscription? On which sections do I have to pay for the section toll? How does the license plate input work? We have compiled these and other frequently asked questions for you in the following FAQ section.

Frequently asked questions

How can I buy a digital vignette or section toll in the Toll Shop?
  • Click Digital Vignette or Digital Section Toll on the homepage and select your desired product.
  • Confirm whether you are a "consumer" or a "company". Please note that the digital 2-month vignette and the digital annual vignette are only valid from the 18th day after purchase when purchased as a private consumer.
  • Select the desired product variant and make sure that you enter the licence plate number correctly.
  • Enter your e-mail address and select a payment method.
  • You can create a customer account or complete the purchase without registering.
  • Please check in the order overview if your data (licence plate number, e-mail address, validity period, etc.) is correct.
  • Click the "Order with obligation to pay" button to complete the order.
  • Your order confirmation and invoice will then be sent by e-mail.

How do I activate the digital section toll FLEX?

To activate the digital section toll FLEX service, log in to your customer account:

  • Activate the FLEX service by clicking "Activate now" on the homepage under digital section toll.
  • Log in or create a new ASFINAG account.
  • Here you can either add a new license plate number or select license plate numbers already stored.
  • Select the payment method and activate your section toll FLEX.
Why did the section toll annual card become the multi-trip card?

Due to a rate change, the section toll annual card is no longer available in our toll shop.

  • From 01.12.2023, we will be offering the section toll multi-trip card as a new product. This will be available both as a digital version and as a physical card (when purchasing at the toll station). Immediate validity can also be selected when purchasing at the toll shop as a consumer.
  • The introduction of the section toll multi-trip card has no influence on the validity of your existing section toll annual card. You can find the validity directly on the order confirmation or in our validity query.
  • If you have taken out a subscription for an annual card, this will remain valid. As part of the extension, you will receive a section toll multi-trip card instead of an section toll annual card.
  • The price of the section toll multi-trip cards has been harmonised with the previous prices of the discounted annual cards. Therefore, there is no longer a reduction for holders of an annual vignette.
I have received a scratch card for a digital vignette with registration code. How do I redeem the code?

With the code on the scratch card, you can redeem a digital annual vignette in the Toll Shop. The code is your payment method.

Attention: The digital vignette is immediately valid when the code is used – thus voiding your right of withdrawal!

How to redeem the code:

  • Scratch the cover off of the code on the front of the scratch card (insert current picture)
  • Click "Buy" on the homepage for the annual vignette product.
  • Select "Redeem scratch card" for the product configuration and enter the scratch-off code in the "Registration code" field.

  • Enter your vehicle license plate number and click continue
  • On the "My details" page, enter your e-mail address and click "Next".
  • On the "Order Overview" page, confirm the terms of use and click the "Redeem code and order" button to complete the order process.
  • You will then receive an order confirmation by e-mail as well as an invoice with an amount of EUR 0.00.

Attention: The digital annual vignette is only valid if you have redeemed the code as mentioned above and received an order confirmation.

Can I change the validity period of my digital product?

As long as the digital toll product is not yet valid, you can edit the validity period free of charge in your customer account. You can either postpone the validity of the product or bring it forward (taking into account the 18-day period for consumers).

You can check whether your product is already valid in your customer account, from the order confirmation or our validity query.

Example: You have purchased a 10-day vignette, valid from 10 July. However, your holiday is delayed and you will not leave until 24 July. Now you must alter the beginning of the validity of your vignette in your account by 9 July (11:59 p.m.) at the latest.

Please note that the validity of digital short-term vignettes (1-day, 10-day and 2-month vignettes) cannot begin after 30 November, as the new vignette year already begins on 1 December and new rates therefore apply.

To change the validity of a digital toll product that is not yet valid, proceed as follows:

  • Select the product to be modified
  • Under "Edit product", you can adjust the validity

Can I change the licence plate number on a digital toll product?

Yes, under certain conditions you can change the vehicle licence plate of your digital toll product. Please check first whether your product is already valid. You can check this in your customer account, from your order confirmation or in our validity query.

  • Before the validity period begins, you can change the vehicle licence plate free of charge in your customer account under "My products".
  • After the start of the validity period, the vehicle licence plate can be changed for digital annual vignettes, multi-trip cards and the digital section toll FLEX service in the following cases:

    • Change of residence
    • Total loss
    • Theft/loss
    • License plate number illegible
    • District consolidation/separation
    • Initiated by the authorities
    • Correction
    • Registration or deregistration of a personalised license plate
    • Change to purely electric vehicle or hydrogen fuel cell powered vehicle
    • Without giving reasons (one-off)

    Please note: in the course of the re-registration, the holder of the registration certificate may not change. 

    An expense reimbursement of 18 euros is payable for each change. In the event of district consolidation/separation, loss, theft, total loss, damaged licence plate or change to purely electric vehicle or hydrogen fuel cell powered vehicle, you will be reimbursed the expense reimbursement of 18 euros if the examination is positive.

The licence plate change is initially only provisional. Only once you have received confirmation from us by e-mail has the vehicle licence plate number change been finally accepted.

Please note: The FLEX service will be transferred to the new licence plate number if the test is negative and no trips have been accumulated. Annual vignettes or multi-trip cards will be reset to the old licence plate number.

How can I change the license plate number of a toll product that is already valid?

I have bought a digital toll product but I do not see it in my customer account.

How can I create a customer account?
  • Open the ASFINAG Toll Shop and click "Log in".
  • Click "Create ASFINAG account":
  • Select the account type and follow the corresponding instructions.
  • Enter your e-mail address, assign a password and click "Create account".
  • You will then receive an e-mail to the e-mail address you have entered, asking you to confirm it.

I have bought a toll product but I do not see it in my customer account. What should I do?

Buying digital toll products

How can I buy a digital vignette or section toll in the Toll Shop?
  • Click Digital Vignette or Digital Section Toll on the homepage and select your desired product.
  • Confirm whether you are a "consumer" or a "company". Please note that the digital 2-month vignette and the digital annual vignette are only valid from the 18th day after purchase when purchased as a private consumer.

When is my digital toll product valid?

If you purchase as a company, all digital toll products are valid immediately and the right of withdrawal does not apply in this case. You are considered to be a company if you buy as part of your activities working for a company.

You are a consumer if you buy a digital toll product for private purposes. In the latter case, the consumer protection period shall apply. This means that according to the European Consumer Protection Directive, consumers have the right to withdraw from the online purchase of a product or service within 14 days. As this withdrawal is possible by e-mail or by post, a further three days are allowed for cancellation by post until arrival at ASFINAG.

When purchasing online as a consumer, the following products are only valid from the 18th day:

  • 2-month vignette
  • Annual vignette

From 1.12.2023 you can buy the following products for immediate use:

  • 1-day vignette
  • 10-day vignette
  • Section toll single trip
  • Section toll multi-trip card
  • Section toll FLEX
What do I have to take into account when entering the license plate number?

Please enter your license plate number according to the registration certificate or license plate.

Austrian and German license plates have to be entered with a hyphen instead of the coat of arms or the plaques. This also applies to transfer, short-term or diplomatic plates. Black Austrian license plates are entered without dots or hyphens.

    • Permitted characters: [A-Z], [Ä,Ö,Ü], [0-9], [-]
    • Example for Austria: W-12345X
    • Example for Germany: B-AB1234 
    • German E-plates are to be entered with the "E" at the end of the number plate.
    • German classic car number plates are to be entered with the "H" at the end of the number plate.

Applicable for all other countries: The license plate number must be entered without special characters.

    • Permitted characters: [A-Z], [Ä,Ö,Ü], [0-9]
    • Example for Italy: AB123CD
I have an interchangeable licence plate. Do I still need several vignettes?

No, because the digital vignette linked to the vehicle license plate number. If you are an owner who uses an interchangeable licence plate, you buy a digital vignette for this and can use all motorways and expressways with up to three vehicles.

Do I need an additional vignette for passenger cars with trailers or caravans or for motorcycles with sidecars?

Passenger car with trailer or caravan:
If the towing vehicle (car) does not have more than 3.5 t, the passenger car vignette is sufficient. The weight of the trailer is irrelevant in this case.

Motorcycle with sidecar:
A sidecar counts as a trailer and therefore does not require a vignette. The vignette for the motorcycle is sufficient.

Change license plate

Can I change the licence plate number on a digital toll product?

Yes, under certain conditions you can change the vehicle licence plate of your digital toll product. Please check first whether your product is already valid. You can check this in your customer account, from your order confirmation or in our validity query.

  • Before the validity period begins, you can change the vehicle licence plate free of charge in your customer account under "My products".
  • After the start of the validity period, the vehicle licence plate can be changed for digital annual vignettes, multi-trip cards and the digital section toll FLEX service in the following cases:

    • Change of residence
    • Total loss
    • Theft/loss
    • License plate number illegible
    • District consolidation/separation
    • Initiated by the authorities
    • Correction

How can I change the vehicle license plate number of a toll product that is already valid?

Please note that after the start of validity, you can only change the license plate number on digital annual vignettes or digital section toll multi-trip cards.

  • "Create new ASFINAG account" or click "Log in".
  • Click "My account" and then on "My products".
  • Select the product to be modified.
  • Click "Change licence plate number".

  • Select a reason for the change
  • Enter your new vehicle license plate number
  • Upload the files required by the ASFINAG Service Center for verification.
  • Add a note to the files/documents
  • Select a payment method to which the expense reimbursement should be credited
  • Finally, check the change overview
  • Confirm the terms of use then click "Place binding order"
  • You will then receive your change of license plate number and your updated order confirmation by e-mail.

Note: In the ASFINAG app, changes to the license plate number can only be made before it becomes valid. Changes to the licence plate number during the validity period are only possible here in the Toll Shop.

Cancellation/withdrawal

How can I cancel a toll product that is not yet valid?

Please note that withdrawal is only possible within 14 days after purchase. If you are a company, you do not have the right to withdraw from online purchases. Only consumers can cancel toll products that are not yet valid in their customer account:

  • "Create new ASFINAG account" or click "Log in".
  • Click "My account" and then "My products". 
  • Select the product to be modified.
  • Under "Other services", you can cancel the product.

  • In the event of a timely cancellation, all payments made will be refunded within 14 days of receipt of the cancellation notice at the latest.

How can I cancel a subscription?

The subscription can be cancelled at any time in your customer account – the cancellation period is 3 days without having to specify a reason.

To cancel a subscription, please proceed as follows:

  • Click "Log in".
  • After logging in, under the "Services" tab select the "My subscriptions" item.
  • Click the relevant product and then "Cancel subscription".

 

Can I cancel a digital section toll single trip?

There is no provision for the return of individual section toll trips. The unused ticket is valid for one year and can be changed to a different licence plate number in the customer account. 

As a consumer, you have a 14-day right to withdraw from an online purchase.

Can I cancel my online purchase?

Please note that only consumers can make use of the right of withdrawal, and not persons in the exercise of a self-employed, business activity (companies).

Toll products already valid cannot be cancelled.

Digital Section Toll FLEX

What is the digital section toll FLEX?

The digital section toll FLEX is a service for retroactive payment of the digital section toll – for all section toll segments. You can activate this service in your customer account.

As soon as you pass one of the ASFINAG toll stations, your vehicle license plate number is automatically recognised by the system and the barriers at the toll station open. All journeys are invoiced according to the valid tariffs of the toll stations and debited via your defined means of payment. The transaction can be viewed at any time under "Services/FLEX Services". The invoice will be sent afterwards via e-mail.

Moreover, you never pay more than the price of a multi-trip card for each section toll segment. As soon as your number of passages has reached this limit, you can travel the rest of the section free of charge. (365 days from the first passage.)
Exception: This does not apply to the A 11 motorway, as no multi-trip card is available for this section toll segment.

Attention! You can use all of the lanes marked green for the journey through the toll station. The lanes marked as GO lanes (usually on the right of the toll stations) are – except at toll stations on the A 9 and the A 13 – exclusively for HGVs, busses and heavy motorhomes over 3.5 tonnes and are signposted with a driving ban for vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes.

In a nutshell:

  • Simple: use all 6 section toll segments without stopping at the toll station
  • Cashless: debit from the stored means of payment retroactively
  • Flexible: activate additional vehicle licence plates at any time
  • Value for money: never pay more for a section than for the multi-trip card.
  • Clear: List of all transits under "My Services".

How do I activate the digital section toll FLEX?

To activate the digital section toll FLEX service, log in to your customer account:

  • Activate the FLEX service by clicking "Activate now" on the homepage under digital section toll.
  • Log in or create a new ASFINAG account.
  • Here you can either add a new license plate number or select license plate numbers already stored.
  • Select the payment method and activate your section toll FLEX.
I have activated the digital section toll FLEX service, but the barrier did not open. Why?

It is possible that your license plate number has not been recorded correctly. Here are some possible reasons for this:

  • you were too close to the car in front,
  • your license plates were soiled rendering them illegible,
  • glare caused by sunlight or
  • a lack of clear distinction between, for example, "I" and "1" or "O" and "0".
A transaction for the digital section toll FLEX service has failed. What should I do?

Please make an additional payment in your customer account within 24 hours after the failed transaction.

  • Click on "Login" and select "Services/FLEX-Services" from the menu.
  • All outstanding payments are listed on this page. Make the retroactive payment with a valid means of payment – the retroactive payment will be carried out for all outstanding amounts.
  • You will receive the invoice by e-mail once the retroactive payment has been made.

If the retroactive payment is not made on time, the FLEX service is automatically deactivated.

How can I change my means of payment?

Can I use the digital section toll or digital section toll FLEX with a motorcycle?

Yes. However, you will only save yourself the payment process at the toll stations.

Note: At present, the digital section toll FLEX is an advantage for motorcyclists, especially at toll stations on the A 9 motorway, as the new barrier-free system allows you to use the leftmost green lane and pass through the toll station without stopping. The amount for the passage will be debited as usual from your saved means of payment.

The passage with a digital section toll ticket or with the digital section toll FLEX does not work the same for motorcycles on the remaining section toll segments as it does for cars – this is due to the automatic license plate recognition in the toll lane:

  • In the toll lane, which is open to all vehicles, the vehicle license plate number is only ever read from the front. Vehicle license plate numbers of motorcycles cannot be recognised automatically because they are attached to the back of the motorcycle. The barrier remains closed. In this case, please inform the toll staff of your license plate number. When the toll booth is unmanned, press the help button and a member of the service staff will answer. The licence plate number is used to check whether a digital section toll ticket has been purchased or whether the digital section toll FLEX has been activated. If either of these is the case, the barrier will open.
  • In the section toll lane, the license plate numbers are read from the front and back. However, since motorcycle vehicle license plate numbers are on two lines, and in the case of passenger cars with trailers the two license plate numbers differ, automatic recognition is not possible here and the barriers do not open automatically. In this case, you will be directed into one of the toll lanes open to all vehicles. Use one of the other lanes open for motorcycles or passenger cars. In this case, proceed as described above.

Managing means of payment

How can I pay in the Toll Shop?

We offer the following payment methods:

Card payment

  • Debit Mastercard
  • Visa

3-D Secure
3-D Secure makes credit card payments in the shop even more secure. As the card holder, you are authenticated by entering a TAN or a second security feature that only you and your bank or card issuer know.

Bank transfer with Eps
Payments with Eps are possible from Austrian bank accounts.

Direct debit with PaySEPA
Payments can be made with PaySEPA throughout the European payment area (SEPA) without online banking.

How can I pay my subscription?

You can pay for your subscription by card, Amazon Pay and PayPal.

How can I change my means of payment?
  • Log in to your customer account.
  • After successful login, click "My means of payment" under "My account".
  • Enter the data for your means of payment.
  • Then click "Save means of payment".
  • You can then select the services for which you want to use this means of payment. To do this, place the appropriate checkmarks and click "Save selection".

Note: For example, if you have received a new credit card and the card number has remained the same, you can enter the new "valid to" date and the new verification number.

If, however, the card number has changed, you must create a new means of payment.

How can I change the means of payment for my subscription?
  • Log in to your customer account.
  • In Services under My Subscriptions, select the subscription you want to edit.
  • Click on the pencil under "Payment method for yearly charge".
  • If you have already saved another means of payment in your customer account, it will be suggested to you here.
  • If you want to create a new payment method, click on "Add new payment method".
  • You can freely choose the "Profile name". This will help you to allocate the means of payment later, as we cannot display the complete or only encrypted credit card or account numbers for data protection reasons.
  • Follow the further steps and then click on "Save payment method".
  • You can then select the services for which you want to use this means of payment. To do this, tick the appropriate boxes and click on "Accept selection".
How can I change the means of payment for the service digital section toll FLEX?
  • Log in to your customer account.
  • In Services, under FLEX services, select the license plate you want to edit.
  • Click on the pen next to the payment method.
  • If you have already saved another means of payment in your customer account, it will be suggested to you here.
  • If you want to create a new payment method, click on "Add new payment method".
  • You can freely choose the "Profile name". This will help you to allocate the means of payment later, as we cannot display the complete or only encrypted credit card or account numbers for data protection reasons.
  • Follow the further steps and then click on "Save payment method".
  • You can then select the services for which you want to use this means of payment. To do this, tick the appropriate boxes and click on "Accept selection".
How does the 3D-Secure procedure work for my payment in the Toll Shop?

If you want to use 3D-Secure, you must register for the procedure. There are two ways to do this:

  1. When paying via 3D-Secure, you can start the procedure and use it to register with the card-issuing bank. 
  2. You register directly with the bank that issued your credit card.

Depending on the bank, you will be asked for different items of personal data for the registration, such as your address or birthday. Some banks send you a code beforehand, which you request when you register.

Authentication for subsequent online purchases can be done in various ways:

  • Personal password 
  • TAN sent via SMS 
  • Smartphone app

The exact form of authentication depends on the credit institution issuing the credit card. For example, in the case of suspicious transactions, additional personal characteristics may be requested. This may include, for instance, the current address or other personal data.

Validity

How do I check the validity of my digital vignette?

You can check the validity of your digital vignette before your journey in one of the following ways:

  • As a registered customer in your customer account or in the ASFINAG app.
  • At evidenz.asfinag.at by entering your vehicle license plate number.
    Please note: Only digital toll products that are already valid appear in the validity query. If you have purchased a product which is not yet valid, it will not be displayed in the validity query. You can check the validity period of your purchased product using your order confirmation.
  • Contact the ASFINAG Service Center by telephone on 0800 400 12 400 or +43 1 955 1266.
How do I check the validity of my section toll multi-trip card?

You can check the validity of your section toll multi-trip card before your journey in one of the following ways:

  • As a registered customer in your customer account or in the ASFINAG app.
  • At evidenz.asfinag.at by entering your vehicle license plate number.
    Please note: Only digital toll products that are already valid appear in the validity query. If you have purchased a product which is not yet valid, it will not be displayed in the validity query. You can check the validity period of your purchased product using your order confirmation.
  • Check the new digital displays at the toll stations or ask someone at a manned toll station.
  • New: by using the QR code on the invoice for the multi-trip card. To do this, scan the QR code with your smartphone and read out all the individual data. Here you can also activate the reminder function and receive e-mails notifying you that your toll product is about to expire. A printout of the invoice with QR code for activating the reminder function is also available at any time at manned toll stations.
  • Contact the ASFINAG Service Center by telephone on 0800 400 12 400 or +43 1 955 1266.

Subscriptions

How long does the subscription run?

When you subscribe, your digital annual vignette or your digital section toll multi-trip card is automatically extended at the applicable rates and under the conditions of the subscription until revoked.

How can I subscribe?

You can only take out a subscription for a digital annual vignette or digital section toll multi-trip card as a registered customer in our toll shop. You can also activate the subscription later for a product you have already purchased.

Either create a new account or log in to your existing customer account:

  • Click the corresponding symbol for the annual vignette or section toll on the home page.
  • For the digital annual vignette as a subscription, select "Buy vignette + subscribe" on the "Product selection" page under product variant.
  • For the digital section toll multi-trip card, select the "Multi-trip card with subscription" button for the product option.
  • Then enter your vehicle license plate number.
  • For the transaction, select the desired payment method.
  • Confirm the terms of use and complete your subscription.
  • You will then receive your subscription order confirmation and invoice by e-mail.

Tip: You can view and manage your new subscription conveniently under My subscriptions.

For which products can I take out a subscription?

You can take out a subscription for the digital annual vignette or for a digital section toll multi-trip card.

Can I also take out a subscription after making my purchase?

Yes, you can activate a subscription for a product you have already purchased. 

To activate a subscription subsequently, please proceed as follows:

  • Click "Log in".
  • After logging in, under the "My account" tab select the "My products" item.
  • Click the relevant product and then "Activate subscription".
How can I pay my subscription?

You can pay for your subscription by card, Amazon Pay and PayPal.

How can I cancel a subscription?

It is possible that your license plate number has not been recorded correctly. Here are some possible reasons for this:

Always carry your order confirmation with you. If the barrier is closed, you can have the bar code on the order confirmation read by the bar code scanner at the toll machine or ask for help via the intercom.

Where can I get the section toll card for the northbound A 11 Karawanken?

The toll for the northbound route can only be paid locally at the Hrušica toll station in Slovenia.

The southbound Karawanken tunnel is manned by ASFINAG. The northbound Karawanken tunnel is manned by the Slovenian motorway company DARS. The section toll segment is located between the St. Jakob im Rosental junction and the state border in the Karawanken tunnel.

I chose the wrong route when buying a digital section toll single trip ticket. Can I still change this?

As long as the purchase is not completed, you can edit the product selection in your shopping cart at any time.

If the purchase has already been completed, you can cancel any unused single trips within 14 days of the date of purchase in your customer account.

Alternatively, you can change the license plate number for unused single trips at any time in your customer account.


Which (digital) toll products are available for the section toll segments?

All section toll products are labelled:

Single trip: valid for one passage and direction of a specific section toll segment. There is no concession for the purchase of outward and return journeys.

The (digital) section toll multi-trip card replaces the previous section toll annual card. It is valid for 1 year from the date of issue for a specific part of the section toll and is tied to a vehicle license plate number.
Your advantage:
The multi-trip card is cheaper for everyone and it is no longer necessary to credit the annual vignette.

Digital section toll FLEX:service for paying the section toll retroactively – valid for all six ASFINAG section toll segments. Passages are debited after the journey from a saved means of payment at the valid rates, and the barrier at the toll station opens automatically.
Your advantage: as soon as you have reached the price of a multi-trip card on a section toll segment, you can drive for free for the remaining period (365 days from the first passage). Exception: No multi-trip card is available on the A 11 motorway.

Where do I need a vignette and where do I have to pay the section toll?

The interactive map below shows the sections on which section tolls must be paid in Austria.

  • You will need a vignette on the motorways and expressways marked in orange.
  • On the sections marked in green, you must pay the section toll.

The following sections are roads subject to section tolls:
  • A 9 Pyhrn motorway between the Spital/Pyhrn and Ardning junctions (Bosruck tunnel) and between the St. Michael and Übelbach junctions (Gleinalm tunnel).
  • A 10 Tauern motorway between the Flachau and Rennweg junctions (Tauern and Katschberg tunnels).
  • A 11 Karawanken motorway between the St. Jakob im Rosental junction and the state border in the Karawanken tunnel.
  • A 13 Brenner motorway: the entire A 13 is subject to section tolls.
  • S 16 Arlberg expressway between the St. Anton am Arlberg and Langen am Arlberg junctions.

Why do I have to pay section tolls for certain motorway sections?

Section toll segments are cost-intensive tunnel and bridge constructions.

With the introduction of the vignette, these section segments were exempted from the vignette obligation, i.e. section toll segments can be used without a vignette, as the toll is paid at the toll stations or in advance.

How can I create a customer account?
  • Open the ASFINAG Toll Shop and click "Log in".
  • Click "Create ASFINAG account":
  • Select the account type and follow the corresponding instructions.
  • Enter your e-mail address, assign a password and click "Create account".
  • You will then receive an e-mail to the e-mail address you have entered, asking you to confirm it.

I have bought a toll product but I do not see it in my customer account. What should I do?

If I delete my account, will my products also be deleted?

If you delete your account, all your account information on asfinag.at, in the Toll Shop and in the ASFINAG app will be lost. This has no effect on products that have already been purchased (and are still valid).

Who can view my data?

ASFINAG attaches great importance to the protection of your personal data. If the use of our website is not possible without the provision of said data, the use of your personal data (such as name, address, e-mail address) is always voluntary and is performed only with your consent. This also applies to the transfer of your personal data to third parties (subsidiaries or other third parties).
 
We have applied the necessary technical and organisational measures according to the legal requirements for electronic communication and data protection.
 
You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data at any time. For the purpose of the technical operation of the website, the IP address, date, time and pages viewed are recorded when visiting the ASFINAG website. I have bought a toll product but I do not see it in my customer account. What should I do?

You can subsequently assign the following products to your customer account:

  • Digital vignettes and digital section toll products that you have purchased at a point of sale, toll station, vending machine or Toll Shop without logging into your customer account
  • Section toll multi-trip cards that you purchased at a toll station

To assign a product to your account:

  • "Create new account" or click "Log in".
  • Click "Services" and "Assign products".
  • Enter the product ID of your order (see order confirmation) and click "Assign product".

Please note that toll stickers cannot be allocated to your customer account.

Where can I find the product ID?

You will find the product ID on your order confirmation.

You will receive the order confirmation immediately after purchasing a digital toll product. If you have purchased the digital toll product in your customer account, you can download the order confirmation at any time under "My account" and "My products".

Concessions for people with disabilities

Are there any concessions for people with disabilities?

For eligible persons, the digital annual vignette is automatically activated for the vehicle license plate number registered to them.

If you are entitled to a free annual vignette, you will also automatically receive a free section toll multi-trip card for the section toll segments on the A 9, A 10, A 13 and S 16 (not for the A 11 Karawanken motorway). These will also be valid for one year. You can use them to pass through the toll stations as often as you like.

You can check online at any time at evidenz.asfinag.at whether a free vignette and the section toll multi-trip card are activated for you at ASFINAG.

Scratch cards

I have received a scratch card for a digital vignette with registration code. How do I redeem the code?

With the code on the scratch card, you can redeem a digital annual vignette in the Toll Shop. The code is your payment method.

Attention: The digital vignette is immediately valid when the code is used – thus voiding your right of withdrawal!

How to redeem the code:

  • Scratch the cover off of the code on the front of the scratch card (insert current picture)
  • Click "Buy" on the homepage for the annual vignette product.
  • Select "Redeem scratch card" for the product configuration and enter the scratch-off code in the "Registration code" field.

  • Enter your vehicle license plate number and click continue
  • On the "My details" page, enter your e-mail address and click "Next".
  • On the "Order Overview" page, confirm the terms of use and click the "Redeem code and order" button to complete the order process.
  • You will then receive an order confirmation by e-mail as well as an invoice with an amount of EUR 0.00.

Attention: The digital annual vignette is only valid if you have redeemed the code as mentioned above and received an order confirmation.

Can I buy scratch cards?

Companies can order scratch cards in quantities of 50 or more.

Some publishers (e.g. magazines) offer their customers a free digital annual vignette when they take out a subscription.

Private individuals can buy scratch cards for the digital annual vignette at the ASFINAG toll stations (Schönberg, St. Jakob, St. Michael, Bosruck, Gleinalm and Rosenbach).

Miscellaneous

Is it possible to switch between a toll sticker and digital vignette at any time?

No. Not during the validity period.

Exception: In the event of a broken windscreen or total loss of your vehicle, you can switch from the annual toll sticker to the digital annual vignette.

How is the digital vignette controlled?

As before, random checks are carried out by the services and toll enforcement unit as well as the automatic vignette monitoring system cameras.

In both cases, the sales system checks whether a valid digital vignette exists for the licence plate number recorded.

How can I save my digital toll product purchased in the Toll Shop in wallet format on my smartphone?

For purchases made in our ASFINAG app, you will automatically receive the corresponding wallet file by e-mail together with your invoice and order confirmation after purchasing a digital toll product.

For purchases made in the Toll Shop, you can manually trigger the sending of the wallet file during the purchase process in the "My Data" section. You can also download the wallet file for your product at a later date under "My products".

Do I have to carry the order confirmation in my vehicle?

When purchasing the digital vignette, no! Please keep your order confirmation until the end of the validity period.

When purchasing the digital section toll annual card, yes! It is necessary to carry the order confirmation in the vehicle for the passage at the toll stations in case the barrier does not open automatically. 

I have not received an e-mail with an invoice and my purchased digital products. What should I do?

Please check first whether you have actually completed your purchase (e.g. no more products in your shopping cart).

The e-mail can take up to 15 minutes to arrive. Please also check your spam or junk mail folder.

If you have made the purchase in your customer account, check whether the product or purchase appears under "My products" or "My purchases". There you can also download the order confirmation and invoice at any time.

Basically, before you start your journey, check by means of our validity query whether the desired digital toll product is valid for your license plate number.

If you still have not received an invoice or order confirmation, please send an e-mail with the following evidence to [email protected].

  • Copy of the vehicle registration certificate
  • Copy of a photo ID of the holder of the registration certificate or, in the case of company vehicles, application with the corresponding company signature
