FLEX is always the best way to travel
- With the digital section toll FLEX, you can drive carefree at the lowest price on all Austrian section toll segments.
- You never pay more than the price of a multi-trip card for each section toll segment. As soon as you have reached this limit, you can travel the rest of the section free of charge. The period is 365 days from the first passage.
Exception: No multi-trip card is available for the A 11 motorway and therefore no maximum price can be calculated. - At the same time, you can switch to other toll stations at any time and drive through without stopping using your licence plate number registered for FLEX.
Here's how the digital section toll FLEX works
Drive first, pay later: Once you have activated the FLEX service in your customer account, you can pass through the ASFINAG toll stations without using any cash and without stopping. The digital section toll is debited from the saved means of payment after the journey.

- Use all of the green lanes to pass through the toll station.
GO lanes (usually on the far right at the toll stations) are intended for vehicles over 3.5 tonnes and are signposted with a driving ban for vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes.
Exception: At the toll stations on the A 9 and A 13 motorways, the GO lane on the far right is also open to cars. - When passing through, the system identifies the activated licence plate number electronically and the barriers open.
- You do not pay twice.
In the case of a toll product that is already valid (e.g.: single trip or multi-trip card), the passage will not be billed via the FLEX service. - After the passage, the valid rate for the section used will be debited from your saved means of payment.

Due to the automatic license plate recognition in the toll lane, passage for motorcycles and cars with trailers works as follows:
In the digital section toll lane, automatic recognition is not possible. So, use one of the other lanes open for motorcycles or passenger cars and proceed as follows:
- In the toll lanes open to all vehicles, motorcycle licence plates cannot be recognised automatically. Please inform the toll staff of your license plate number. In automatic operation, press the help button. If a digital section toll card is available or the digital section toll FLEX is activated, the barrier is opened.
Exception A 9: At present, the digital section toll FLEX is an advantage for motorcyclists or passenger cars with trailers, especially at toll stations on the A 9 motorway, as the new barrier-free system allows you to use the leftmost green lane and pass through the toll station without stopping. The amount for the passage will be debited as usual from your saved means of payment.
Activation of the digital section toll FLEX
You need a customer account to activate the digital section toll FLEX. In the next step, you can add a new licence plate number or select license plate numbers already saved and specify a means of payment.
